Connectivity

Biomedical engineering centers on making connections between different fields and endeavors, and our new building promotes this integration in several ways, beginning with its strategic location.

The building site was chosen so that it functions as a gateway between the academic campus and the expanding, translational research-intensive Discovery Park area of the university.

The key buildings within walking distance are:

Lynn Hall of Veterinary Medicine for pre-clinical studies.

Birck Nanotechnology Center for research requiring specialized fabrication equipment and a clean room environment.

Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurship for translational expertise and collaboration with industry.

Bindley Bioscience Center for core biotechnology research equipment and expertise.

Lilly Hall for life science research collaborations.

Wayne T. and Mary T. Hockmeyer Hall for structural biology research.

Gerald D. and Edna E. Mann Hall facility for Discovery Park research centers focused on health-care engineering, advanced manufacturing, cancer detection and treatment, systems analysis, and homeland security.

Discovery Learning Center for development of novel technologies and pedagogies designed to enhance learning at all levels, especially as it relates to science, technology, engineering and math.
