Welcome

The medical and biotechnology fields are changing rapidly due to emerging technologies. What is demanded are researchers who not only can innovate, but can then convert the results into the next generation of products to advance the health of the world. The key to educating such researchers lies in teaching engineering science, analysis, and design within the context of biology and medicine; and, in integrating biology and engineering within courses and design projects. For more than 40 years, Purdue has been a leader in biomedical engineering education and research, providing significant advances in cardiac care, orthopedic implants, medical imaging systems, drug delivery, and tissue engineering.

Today, the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering is building on this rich foundation to provide the next generation of engineers and products. While biomedical engineering has long crossed the line between traditional academic disciplines, we are taking this to new levels with our state-of-the-art facility; innovative academic programs; dynamic partnerships with industry; a flagship biomedical entrepreneurship program; and, full connectivity with programs and facilities ranging from nanotechnology to biotechnology. With the generous support of alumni and friends, our faculty is expanding and with it our research expertise and capacity. You can learn more about what is going on through perusing our news, or, you can download any of our brochures.

Our goal is to provide you with easier access to better information, the information you need. To do this, we need your feedback on what works and what can be made to work better. Let us know, so that we can continue to grow and innovate.

Thank you for visiting, and for taking the time to learn more about our dynamic and innovative biomedical engineering education, research and technology development.
