October 2016 AgrAbility News

Indiana AgrAbility presented a program introducing AgrAbility to the 1st Annual Jay County Rural America Farm & Garden Expo.  Steve Swain, rural rehabilitation specialist, presented the services AgrAbility offers and examples of some of the assistive technology available for farmers with disabilities.

Indiana AgrAbility was invited by Indiana Vocational Rehabilitation Services to take part in the VR Partner Expo.  The Expo was part of the annual state training for VR counselors, office and area supervisors, and state administrators.  Steve Swain, Indiana AgrAbility rural rehabilitation specialist, staffed the display which presented services available to VR along with case studies and examples of successful VR cases.

Dr. Davide Cristofori and Prof. Andrea Vacca awarded the 2015 Donald Julius Groen Prize!

Congratulations to Dr. Davide Cristofori and Prof. Andrea Vacca. The Mechatronics, Informatics and Control Group Board of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), has selected the paper ‘Modeling hydraulic actuator mechanical dynamics from pressure measured at control valve ports’, by Davide Cristofori and Andrea Vacca (Proc IMechE Part I: J Systems and Control Engineering, July 2015, vol 229 n. 6) as the winner of the 2015 Donald Julius Groen Prize.

The Prize is awarded every year by IMechE to the authors of a selected outstanding paper.

Student Soybean Innovation Competition

Registration is Open for the Student Soybean Innovation Competition

Top Prize $20,000, Runner-Up $10,000 and “NEW” this year 3rd Place $5,000

Plus additional opportunities for Soy Teams at the conclusion of the competition to continue to work on their soy-based product with additional provided funds!  Team could actually start their own company!

Walking the Walk

Or maybe "putting our water where our mouth is" would be more appropriate! Shortly before the Fall semester, Dr. Engel and Scott Brand worked their magic to make an upgrade to one of our first-floor water fountains. Since the semester began, we have eliminated the need for almost 1500 water bottles. Way to show commitment to our cause!
