ADM Building Card-Entry System
The card-swipe entry system at the ADM building is controlled by the Purdue ID Card Office. The card access database is called the Transact System at Purdue. The software used to add and remove Purdue User IDs to the database for the two doors is called the Access Control Tool (ACT). All Purdue students, staff and visitors must have a valid Purdue ID card to gain access to the ADM building. This same card is used in many places on the Purdue campus. The new ABE building will use the same system when it comes on-line.
Although there are several external doors to the ADM building, only two are controlled with the card system. The door to the main ADM office is normally unlocked (does not require a swipe) from 7:00am to 4:00pm Monday-Friday, except for university holidays. The ABE shop door is always locked. The current building policy allows either door to be opened at any time with a swipe of a valid Purdue ID that is in the Transact System database for the ADM building. All entries are recorded.
The Transact System database for the ADM building follows computer accounts on the ABE pasture file server. This means if you have an account on pasture, then you should have access to the ADM building. If your account has been removed from pasture, your access to the ADM building should be revoked. Any student taking any course in the ABE department should have a computer account on pasture. Accounts will be removed from pasture after the end of the semester. Non-student accounts must be requested through Stan Harlow (email@example.com).

PhD Candidate Val Schull and Postdoc Antonio Santos (PhD-ABE '18) were among 25 Fellows selected for the LATinE: Latinx Trailblazers in Engineering workshop, hosted by the Purdue College of Engineering July 29-31. The goal of the LATinE program at Purdue Engineering is to prepare the best and brightest Latinx/Hispanic scholars who have recently completed/ are nearing completion of their PhD degrees or postdoctoral appointments at US universities for a career as a faculty member in engineering academia. Val and Antonio attended a three-day (virtual) workshop that provided opportunities for scientific interactions, career-oriented discussions, and networking. Congratulations!
ABE Graduate student Gargeya Vunnava won the Best Student Oral Presentation Award at the International Society of Industrial Ecology Americas 2020 Conference for his talk: "Economic and energy impacts of wind energy expansion in the US using multi-regional input output (MRIO) tables". August 2020 Undergraduate Student News
Welcome back! Whether you are doing in-person classes, remote classes, or some combination thereof, we are glad you are back with us. This is a monthly in-house newsletter that may be helpful as you navigate the semester.
For instance: did you know that we have a page that shows job opportunities (https://engineering.purdue.edu/ABE/Careers.html)? Take this one, for example:
We are in need of fall help for our grain elevators that are in the Lafayette area (Brookston, Swanington, Fowler, Attica). We would love to match up with some students looking for part-time work, that could also lead to full-time careers with ADM. I believe the ASM club has had several students work with us in the past. If you can help in anyway matching us to some students that would like to make extra money, please let me know!!
ADM Grain Company
If you visit our job postings page, you will find this one and many others. Yvonne Hardebeck also includes these in her world-famous Friday emails. Take a peek periodically and see what might fit your dream job (or at least something to provide a little extra ca$h).
Send your thoughts on what you’d like to see in this e-newsletter to Purdue ABE at email@example.com.
