The Purdue ABE Staff and Student bowling team has a few pins missing. If you are looking for an opportunity to flex your muscles, we are looking for you. The primary requirements are willingness and commitment. The team bowls on Monday evenings from 6:30 to 9:00 pm at Arrowhead Lanes in Lafayette. Please contact Stan Harlow if you are interested in joining the team.

Papers:

Andrew Schenk receiving the Backe Medal at the 7th FPNI PhD sympsium in Reggio Emilia, Italy

Andrew Schenk won the Backe Medal at the 7th FPNI PhD symposium in Reggio Emilia, Italy for his paper on "The Influence of Swashplate Elastohydrodynamic Deformation in the Slipper-Swashplate Interface". The Backe Medal is given for the best paper presented at each FPNI PhD symposium. Andrew is the fourth recipient of the Maha team since establishment of the FPNI PhD symposium in 2000, who received this prestigious award.

Marco Zecchi receiving the distinguished paper recognition award at the 7th FPNI PhD symposium in Reggio Emilia, ItalyMarco Zecchi's paper and presentation on "An investigation of the impact of micro surface shaping on the cylinder block/valve plate inter-face performance through a novel thermo-elasto-hydrodynamic model" was selected for the distinguished paper recognition award at the 7th FPNI PhD symposium in Reggio Emilia, Italy.

Student News:

Maha welcomes new members Rene Chacon Portillo (Master Student), Lizhi Shang (Visiting Researcher), Damiano Padovani (PhD Student), and Taeho Kim (PhD Student) to the lab. Rene and Lizhi are going to work with the pump/motor modeling group. Damiano will start working on displacement controlled hydraulic systems, and Taeho will be investigating active vibration damping on hydraulic pumps/motors.
