Alumni News for August

Bob Malcomb (ABE 78) has been named Chief Structural Engineer for Bunge, North America. Bunge is the largest oil seed producer in the world, as well as a large producer of biofuels, fertilizer and milled grain.  

Roxanne Adeuya (MS AGE '04, PhD '09 ) has accepted a position with the US EPA in Ada, Oklahoma, as a research hydrologist in the Ground Water and Ecosystems Restoration Division.

Jason (BS AGE '01) and Jenny Brown announced the arrival of Jonathan Allen Brown. Born July 14, 8 lb 6 oz, and 21 inches long. Joceyln (big sister) and Dad admire the newest Brown.

Breaking New Ground News for August

Breaking New Ground/Indiana AgrAbility presented the AgrAbility program and services to the occupational and physical therapists at the Rehabilitation Hospital of Fort Wayne.  Steve Swain the rural rehabilitation specialist and Kylie Hendress the outreach coordinator showed some of the assistive technology available to farmers with disabilities and some of the publications to help them service their patients.  A Tool Box CD and hard copy, an Indiana Directory of Disability Resources, and Caregiver leaders guide were left with the hospital for the therapists to help their patients recover and their families to return to their homes and communities and be productive.

Steve Wettsshurack, Grain Safety Specialist, represented the department at the BARNYARD Boot Camp 2011 held at the Cass County Fairgrounds in June. The camp set a record this year with 175 kids learning about Chemical Safety, Pool and Water Safety, Firearm Safety, Horse Safety, Operation Lifesaver, the Cass County Sheriff's Department, Fire Department, Electrical Safety, and Emergency Management in addition to Steve's Grain Handling Safety presentation.  ADM Grain is the sponsor of the event, and the Lewis Cass High School FFA and Farm Safety 4 Just Kids also assisted in shepherding the kids through the 10 safety stations, as well as serving snacks and teaching children about food safety and sun protection.
