Amelia Earhart encouraged students to create new paths and pursue passions. Essentially, the aviation pioneer inspired development and growth, especially for women, in aerospace engineering fields.
That's the goal of the first symposium at Purdue named in her honor.
The Amelia Earhart Summit will focus on empowering all students for success in aerospace careers. Undergraduate and graduate students will have an opportunity to learn more about career paths in aerospace industry and academia and expand their professional network. The summit will provide a platform for students to:
- Present their research in a succinct manner and gain feedback from experts in academia, as well as the Industrial Advisory Council (IAC) made up of leading alumni/alumnae from Purdue’s School of Aeronautics and Astronautics
- Network with professionals from the industry and government, learn about graduate school and academic careers, and attend stimulating keynote talks
- Get involved in student organizations, share ideas about their management, and promote a culture of mentorship in the aerospace community.
The Amelia Earhart Summit is organized by the student groups Graduate Women’s Gatherings (GWG) and Women In Aerospace (WIA) from Purdue’s School of Aeronautics and Astronautics in collaboration with University of Michigan’s Women in Aeronautics & Astronautics (WAA).
