Undergraduate Research Projects Homepage
Research is a big part of the programs at Purdue University. The School of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AAE) provides a structured program for its undergraduate students to perform research. Students enroll in AAE 490 which allows them to undertake individual or small group research projects under the guidance of a faculty advisor. The advisor may meet with students on a regular schedule or communicate by email. The work, however, is done entirely by the students involved. From the design phase, through the building phase, and all the way to the testing phase, the work belongs to the students. This makes the undergraduate research challenging, enjoyable, and rewarding.
Research in AAE has been a strong part of the school's past, and it will continue to be in the future. Undergraduate students can use research to further their understanding of aeronautical and astronautical engineering, and do it while working with amazing faculty and earning credit. Most research projects can replace a technical elective, some can even count towards other requirements
These pages provide examples of the undergraduate research projects performed in the Purdue School of Aeronautics and Astronautics. These efforts are expanding the limits of knowledge in the areas of aeronautical and astronautical engineering.
