This graph shows the relationship between GPA and Class Rank

Note that the available range is 2.0 to 4.0. 95% of all graduates are in the 2.5 and above range, with a relatively uniform probability distribution.

The graph shows the relationship between GPA and placement.

Most of the people in the "School" category are pursuing grad school in aerospace. A handful are doing other things, including business, medicine and teaching certificate programs. The 21% in this category are in school full time.

Most of the people in the "Unknown" category are May 07 grads who will be contacted by CCO before April 2008. Most of them were seeking a job at graduation, but haven't been heard from since.

COMMENT:  Note also that many of the "Employed" people have educational benefits built in and will be going to grad school at the employers expense.

COMMENTS:

        Summer is counted .5 semesters

Only credits earned at Purdue are counted in Cr/Sem.

The lower credits/semester values are a result of repeating courses. (i.e. It does not measure credits attempted)

The very high credit counts are from people who came to AAE with a BS degree already. These cases included prior degrees in AT, EE, ME, CS and Physics.

The very high number of semesters is for such a dual degree case where the other degree was also from Purdue.

The very low number of semesters is for a dual degree case where the other degree was from outside Purdue.

Engineering Work/Project Experience

The collected resumes of graduates tells if each student did or did not have some kind of engineering work experience before graduation. In round numbers 80% did and 20% didn't. Their placement, cross-correlated with GPA is shown in the table below.

The only striking difference between these two groups ("None" and "Some") is that those with no experience are four times more likely to be seeking a job than those with experience (even though their mean gpa is not that different).
