Devarajan Ramanujan, William Benjamin,  and William Z. Bernstein along with Professors’ Niklas Elmqvist and Karthik Ramani were awarded the 2013 Design for Manufacturing and the Life Cycle Conference Best Paper Award by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). Findings of the work done at Purdue University were detailed in a paper presented on August 5 during the ASME International Design Engineering Technical Conference (IDETC) in Portland, Oregon. Details of the paper titled shapeSift: Suggesting sustainable options in design reuse from part repositories can be found here :  https://engineering.purdue.edu/cdesign/wp/?p=1688. The Design for Manufacturing and the Life Cycle Conference (DFMLC) covers theoretical and practical aspects of DFX and product life-cycle management (PLM) encompassing areas such as sustainable design, supply chain, life cycle decision making and algorithms in design.
