Edwin Rodriguez

Research Interests

My research interest lies in process optimization and industrial equipment design.
Currently, I’m working on a different aspect of a new modular process for small scale shale gas valorization. This includes a new alkane dehydrogenation reactor, a new gas-liquid separation system, and its overall process economic optimization under final composition uncertainty.

Dr. Zewei Chen

Dr. Chen joined the group as a graduate student in fall 2017. His research involved process intensification of multi-component distillation systems and membrane cascades. Dr. Chen also explored shale gas valorization with CISTAR and distributed chemical manufacturing using renewable energy. He successfully defended his Ph.D. in Summer 2022.

Dr. Yiru Li

Dr. Li joined the group as a graduate student in fall 2015. Her research focused on the process design and optimization of renewable energy systems, aiming at efficient energy consumption and a sustainable economy. Specifically, She was investigating the coproduction of electricity and hydrogen from solar thermal energy in various processes. She successfully defended her Ph.D. in Spring 2020.

Peter W. Oladipopu

Peter W. Oladipopu

Peter W. Oladipopu joined the group as a graduate student in Fall 2017. His research involved developing new and effective reactor and process configuration concepts/methods. Specifically, he was developing new concepts, strategies, design parameters, and configurations towards the optimal design of catalytic reactors and the overall processes for the efficient and cost-effective conversion of light alkane to liquid fuel. He successfully defended his Master Degree in Spring 2020.

Dr. Taufik Ridha

Dr. Ridha joined the group as a graduate student in fall 2014. His research focused on developing a methodology for systematic screening of process routes based on fundamental knowledge of biomass conversion reaction systems with the aim of generating biorefinery design. Specifically, using process system engineering principles and mathematical models, he investigated the use of automated reaction network generator tool to identify new production routes and opportunities for heat and mass integration in biorefinery design. He successfully defended his Ph.D. in Fall 2018.

Emre Gencer

Dr. Emre Gencer

Emre Gencer joined the group as a graduate student in fall 2011. His research area focuses on the synthesis and optimization of processes to satisfy essential human needs including fuel, chemicals, and electricity, using renewable energy sources to enable a solar economy. He successfully defended his Ph.D. in Fall 2016 and started working for MIT in September, 2016.

Dr. Easa Al-Musleh

Dr. Easa Al-Musleh joined the group as a graduate student in Summer 2008. His research focused on identifying energy efficient refrigeration cycles for a given application. He demonstrated this using Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) systems. He also studied efficient separation of natural gas liquids (NGLs). He successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis in Spring 2014.

Dharik Mallapragada

Dr. Dharik S. Mallapragada

Dharik Mallpragada joined the group as a graduate student in fall 2008. His research area focuses on developing novel processes through synergistic integrations. He successfully defended his Ph.D. in Fall 2013 and started working for Sabic in November, 2013. He is now currently working for ExxonMobil.

Dr. Navneet R. Singh

The graduate student with whom, the idea of forming such a group was coined in the fall of 2005. Navneet, through his pioneering work on process systems integration and modeling, has provided direction for future experimental and theoretical studies being pursued. He successfully defended his Ph.D. in Fall 2009 and started working for Bayer Cropscience in November, 2009.
