Q:
Where can a get a template for the ECE thesis format.
A:

The latex file will be updated for Fall 2003. Information on using latex for your thesis is available on the web at http://www.ecn.purdue.edu/ECN/Documents/thesis/

=======
Q:
There seem to be contradictions between what is in the ECE style guide and the Purdue Manual, which should I use?
A:
ECE chose to develop its own style and not use the standard Purdue Format. See page 15 paragraph 1 of the Purdue Manual. The ECE Manual takes priority. However, instructions for the preliminary pages of a thesis are taken from the Purdue Manual.
=======
Q:
Should the first page of a chapter be numbered?
A:
All pages must be numbered except the title page, including the first page of a chapter. There are blank un-numbered section heading pages for the Reference, Vita, and Appendicies.
=======
Q:
Does body text have to be right justified?
A:
Ragged right for text is optional.
=======
Q:
Should figures be in line or at end of chapter?
A:
In line is preferred but not mandatory.
=======
Q:
Does the text in figures need to be in the same size and font as the body text?
A:
The text in figures need not be in any specific size or font, but should be legible and in a consistent style where possible.
=======
Q:
Can other fonts (like code or printout from another machine) be used in the Appendix?
A:
Yes, material in the Appendix can be in other styles and sizes.
=======
Q:
Can another person turn in a thesis for me?
A:
Yes, they will need your student ID number, a forwarding address, and will need to fill out the form from University Microfilms, in addition to the usual steps of format approval and thesis deposit.
=======
Q:
What happens if a figure goes outside the thesis margins?
A:
The Purdue thesis deposit office will ask you to redo the page to meet the margin specifications. Appendix pages do not have to comply with the margins, only the left margin.
=======

Do the pages of the Appendices need to be numbered.
A:
Yes, the thesis office requires this.
=======
