On April 16, 2013, INDOT geotechnical engineers (see photos above) participated in a training program on the application of pile dynamics to quality assurance in deep foundations hosted by Purdue University. Professors Monica Prezzi and Rodrigo Salgado organized the program, which featured two presentations given by Dr. Frank Rausche from GRL Engineers, Inc. and Pile Dynamics, Inc. The presentations included Wave Equation Analysis and Dynamic Pile Load Testing.

The training is part of long-lasting collaboration between Profs. Salgado and Prezzi and INDOT geotechnical services engineers under the auspices of JTRP. For a full list of JTRP technical reports completed by Professors Prezzi and Salgado, click on the respective link below:

In addition to the INDOT staff that participated in this training, two dozen Purdue students attended the presentations and had an opportunity to interact with INDOT colleagues. "This workshop organized by Professor Prezzi and Salgado are outstanding opportunities for identifying emerging INDOT research needs as well as providing unique experience based educational opportunities for our students," said JTRP Director Darcy Bullock.
