Purdue Institute of Traffic Engineers Student Chapter Wins District "Traffic Bowl" and Headed to Atlanta in August for National Competition

Purdue Civil Engineering students Steve Remias, Alex Hainen, Steve Lavrenz and Gerry Bollinger received first place in the ITE Great Lakes District Traffic Bowl held in Lexington, KY on April 17. Students will travel to Atlanta in August to compete in the ITE National Championship in August. Further information on the traffic bowl can be found at http://www.ite.org/trafficbowl/default.asp.
In addition to participating in the Traffic Bowl, students presented a poster on research they had done with Purdue Professor Darcy Bullock evaluating an IPAD intersection turning movement counting app. The app was developed by Purdue Civil Engineering Alum Gary Shoup, P.E.. Gary received his MSCE from Purdue in 1999 and has a small company that develops IPAD apps related to transportation (http://www.trafdata.com).
