  Accomplished IE alums receive recognition from School and College

On the evening of Thursday, April 24, a collection of Purdue Industrial Engineering faculty, staff, students and alums gathered in the John Purdue Room to pay tribute to the latest alums to be honored as Outstanding Industrial Engineers.  Only 115 alumni have been so honored, out of more than 8,000 graduates of the School of Industrial Engineering.

The honorees were John F. Beering (BSIE '92), Senior Vice President and General Manager for Eaton Corporations Commercial Transmission Business; Dr. Susan J. Ellspermann (BSIE '82), Lieutenant Governor of Indiana; Dr. Mica R. Endsley (MSIE '85), Chief Scientist of the US Air Force; Dr. Barry L. Nelson (MSIE '81, PhD, '83), Walter P. Murphy Professor and Chair of the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management Sciences at Northwestern University; and Hector Rangel Domene (BSIE '69), President of BCP Securities Mexico.

Earlier in the day, all four of the honorees participated in a panel discussion sponsored by the IE Graduate Student Organization on "The Impact of IE."

Gibbons, Kilmer honored by College of Engineering

In February, two IE alums were recognized by the College of Engineering with the Distinguished Engineering Alumni/Alumnae Award.  This award is presented to men and women who have distinguished themselves in any field in ways that reflect favorably on Purdue University, the engineering profession, or society in general.

Jim GibbonsJim Gibbons (BSIE '85), President and CEO of Goodwill Industries International, Inc., was presented with the honor "in recognition of his outstanding success in the face of adversity, his distinguished career, and the inspiring example he sets of the Boilermaker spirit."  Click here to read more.


Kathy Kortte KilmerKathy Kortte Kilmer (BSIE '92), Director of Worldwide Sales Channel Planning and Analysis for Disney Destinations, was presented with the DEA "in recognition of her tremendous professional accomplishments in leading industrial engineering teams for worldwide Disney Destinations and her active and devoted commitment to Purdue University."  Click here to read more.
