Center For the Aging Infrastructure (CAI)

This unique center – a 20-acre outdoor research facility site located off the main campus of Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana – focuses on the needs associated with research, inspection, and management of the existing aging infrastructure as well as training of the next generation workforce involved in the activities surrounding management and repair/retrofit of aging infrastructure.

The CAI provides a national forum for a diverse set of stakeholders (Indiana Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration, Department of Transportation, Consultants, Steel Fabricators, Contractors, Vendors, etc.) to advance "the state of the practice" in inspection, training and asset management related to highway and railroad bridges, while preparing our future workforce to meet the needs of the aging infrastructure.
