| National Student Steel Bridge Contest (NSSBC) | ||||||
Interested in hosting the 2013 NSSBC? Clemson University is hosting the 2012 competition. AISC is looking for proposals for 2013. For anyone interested in hosting the National Student Steel Bridge Competition, please contact Maria Mnookin at mnookin@aisc.org for information. Says Rob Connor, Faculty Director for the 2010 NSSBC planning committee, "Hosting the 2010 NSSBC was one of the most rewarding and exciting opportunities I have had the privilege of being involved with while a professor at Purdue. Working with very motivated and talented students and watching them really take the lead in coordinating such a major event was wonderful. Although it does require a lot of hard work on the part of the organizing committee, it is all well worth it when you get to see top teams from around the country descend on your campus with their bridges in tow. If this is any indication of the type of future engineers that will enter the steel bridge community, we are good hands." |

| Teaching Aids Survey | ||||||
Give feedback on AISC Teaching Aids and get chances to win your choice of the AISC Design Guide set (hard copy) or the Detailing for Steel Construction Manual. AISC steel teaching aids are free downloads that have been developed to assist educators in preparing students to become professionals knowledgeable in the use of structural steel. Please send us your opinions. For those who did not reply to our June Teaching Aids survey, we will relaunch it on September 1. Please look for the email on September 1 with a link to the survey. Your opinions are important to us and our plans for future projects. Two names of those who complete the survey will be selected at random to win their choice of a hard copy set of the 25 AISC Design Guides OR a Detailing for Steel Construction Manual. For each individual teaching aid you review, you will receive an additional entry into the drawing. You must complete the survey by Friday, September 16 in order to qualify for the drawing. |
